Boys basketball roundup — Mooney, Yale and PHN all win on opening night

PORT HURON — Find the nearest high school gymnasium, because it's the opening week of the 2025-26 MHSAA boys basketball season.

Here are the game results for Tuesday, Dec. 2, in the Blue Water Area.

Cardinal Mooney 41, Waterford Lakes 29

Jackson Salter posted a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double for Cardinal Mooney (1-0). Brady Boedeker added 10 points while Cullen Knuth totaled six points, eight assists and six rebounds.

The Cardinals visit Macomb Lutheran North at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5.

Yale 53, Lutheran North 45

Jackson Kohler scored a team-high 14 points to lead Yale (1-0). Karl Sebastian-Aun followed with 12 points while Brayden Bullard and Tyler Debbs each had eight.

The Bulldogs host Port Huron at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5.

Port Huron Northern 66, Anchor Bay 39

Alex Jamison amassed 19 points and five assists for Port Huron Northern (1-0). Amir Morelan added 15 points and six assists while Cam Harju contributed 10 points and six rebounds.

The Huskies are idle until Friday, Dec. 12, when they visit St. Clair at 7 p.m.

Fraser 57, St. Clair 45

Braylon Frantz finished with 26 points and five assists for St. Clair (0-1). The Saints welcome Marine City at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 8.

Lamphere 76, Marysville 60

Dae'Vion Brunhuber dropped a team-high 27 points to guide Marysville (0-1). Cole Cooper and Brady Wright both added nine points.

The Vikings entertain Croswell-Lexington at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5.

Utica Ford 58, Port Huron 41

Greg Haskins finished with 16 points, seven steals and four rebounds for Port Huron (0-1). Ashton Cook chipped in six points and two boards.

The Red Hawks travel to Yale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5.

Dryden 67, Memphis 51 (Monday)

Taylin Yoes totaled 33 points and six rebounds for Memphis (0-1). James Rohde followed with 11 points and nine boards.

The Yellowjackets head to Algonac at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Imlay City 89, Capac 56 (Monday)

Lavon Edwards posted a game-high 24 points to lead Imlay City (1-0). He also had five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Isaac Sommer contributed 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists. The Spartans welcome Detroit Douglass at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Wiley Roose notched a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double for Capac (0-1). The Chiefs travel to Unionville-Sebewaing at 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Ubly 60, Peck 48 (Monday)

Thomas West scored a team-high 24 points for Peck (0-1). Cody Cairo added 15 points. The Pirates visit Kingston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5.
