Chelsea went toe to toe with Arsenal at the weekend, and while they only got a draw, their performance with ten men convinced a lot of people that they’re a top team and potentially a title contender.
Enzo Maresca has been reluctant to put his team in that category, but has admitted that they will be among the favourites if they keep playing like this.

Chelsea celebrate against Arsenal.
Kieran Gill of the Daily Mail has had a look at the facts and stats and what people inside the industry are saying about the Blues’ chances. According to him, those inside Chelsea don’t think they’re yet ready to compete for the title:
“Chelsea insiders see Arsenal and City as the favourites this season, and it is hard to disagree. Arsenal added depth to their squad in the summer, which you need to compete, and have come second in each of the last three seasons.”
It’s clear that Maresca is going to keep his party line of “we’re not thinking about the title” until at least March, when, if we’re in the mix, he would finally have to admit it. Arsenal have looked pretty fearsome in the season so far, and while we’ve improved of late, it’s hard to imagine we won’t have at least one blip in the weeks and months to come.
