The Steelers signed linebacker Kana’i Mauga to the practice squad Wednesday, the team announced.
Pittsburgh had an open spot after releasing wide receiver Cornell Powell on Tuesday.
Mauga went undrafted in 2022. He’s since had stints with the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers over his NFL career.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementMauga, 25, has played all 17 of his career NFL games with the Raiders, where he recorded no starts, six total tackles, and 306 special teams snaps. He has just 11 career snaps on defense, but has also added eight on offense in a fullback role.
Muaga played college football for four years at USC, where he finished with 206 total tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, and three interceptions over his NCAA career. The 6’2, 245-pound linebacker ran a 4.65-second 40-yard dash at the USC pro day in 2022.
