All Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) wants is to go down the aisle in style in Coronation Street. Will her terminal illness ruin her perfect day… or will her brother do it first?

For anyone who has lost a family member to dementia, Coronation Street is really doing it right.

We’ve seen the fiercest, sassiest property tycoon to ever tread the Cobbles in high heels slowly lose herself piece by piece as she grapples with memory loss, confusion and the heartbreaking emotions that come with it.

Through it all, Debbie’s light in the darkness is her fiancé, the loveable Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan), who has stood side by side with her throughout her diagnosis.

Debbie’s a party girl. And her big Weatherfield Wedding may be the last party she ever goes to. Everything has got to be perfect.

But that perfect day is heading for disaster when an upset Debbie confides in Carl (Jonathan Howard) and Abi (Sally Carman-Duttine) that she’s accidentally booked the wedding venue for 2027 instead of 2026. Knowing that her vascular dementia may have advanced too far by then, Carl and Abi vow to find another venue.

So Debbie’s made up when they manage to grab a last-minute booking in three weeks’ time.

This is a sweet gesture, especially from Carl, who’s secretly been spending more time trying to gaslight his sister into giving him access to her business bank accounts than picking out wedding favours.  But hey. We’ll take it.

However, there’s another grey cloud looming over the happiest day in Debbie’s life… and that grey cloud goes by Kevin (Michael Le Vell). Touched by Carl and Abi’s help in securing a new venue, Debbie decides to invite them both to attend the wedding.

Ronnie thinks that she’s making a huge mistake because Kevin will refuse to attend. To be fair, he’s not wrong.

There’s something about seeing your cheating brother all over your cheating wife like a rash that doesn’t exactly put you in the mood for prosecco and prawn vol-au-vents. But Debbie doesn’t listen. Is Ronnie right?

Yes. Of course he is. Because as soon as Debbie delicately breaks the news to Kevin, the moody mechanic throws the invitation back in her face. So that’s a no on the RSVP then, Kev?
