KEYS TO A GOPHER WINTeam defense is critical – Indiana ranks 4th nationally in assists per FG made and their three best players all average 2.5 assists per game or more. They are running a highly efficient offense and if Minnesota isn’t communicating and playing connected of defense, I see a lot of easy baskets for the Hoosiers.
Paging Isaac Asuma – With Chancey Willis Jr being lost for the season, Minnesota is going to need a lot of help in the backcourt. Asuma is the most likely candidate but his play has been inconsistent and often non-existent, looking uncomfortable in Medved’s system. He’ll get it, but the sooner, the better.
Catch them in a trap game? – Indiana is getting ready for a matchup with #9 Louisville on Saturday. Any chance they are overlooking the Gophers tonight? How can we encourage them to really be focused on the Cardinals?
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementPREDICTIONWithout Robert Vaihola and Chancey Willis Jr, this game was going to be a real challenge. Without them, it might take a minor miracle. Maybe Cade Tyson and Jalen Crocker-Johnson can dominate the paint and make things interesting. But at some point we will have to stop the Hoosiers and probably make some outside shots. I’m dubious we can do either.
