After having sent Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt off in emotional fashion, Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning is finally making its way to Paramount+. The eighth installment in the long-running action franchise served as both a conclusion to the two-part story set up by its predecessor, Dead Reckoning, and to Cruise's tenure in the series as Hunt raced to stop Esai Morales' Gabriel and the malevolent AI program, The Entity, from inciting a global nuclear war.

Having hit theaters in May 2025, Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning garnered generally positive reviews from critics, who mostly overlooked its narrative foibles to commend its franchise sendoff. However, much like Dead Reckoning, the movie again failed to make much of a dent at the box office, losing its opening weekend to Lilo & Stitch and grossing just shy of $600 million against its reported $400 million production budget.

Now, some six months after the movie released in theaters, Paramount+ has finally revealed Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning's streaming release date. The film, which previously hit VOD platforms in August and physical shelves in mid October, will make its premiere on December 4 in the United States and Canada. The movie's availability in additional international Paramount+ markets will be announced at a later date.

The Mission: Impossible — Final Reckoning streaming premiere date comes at an interesting point for both the franchise and Cruise. Since its Paramount+ rebranding, Cruise has had two movies make their home on the streamer after their theatrical debuts, those being the aforementioned Dead Reckoning and the highly successful Top Gun: Maverick, the former of which premiered in January while the latter debuted in December.

Sharing the same premiere window as Top Gun: Maverick is an encouraging sign for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, as the 2021 action legacy sequel became Paramount+'s most-watched film debut at the time, a record that still has yet to be overtaken. Though that movie had more groundswell than the past two Mission: Impossible films, especially after it became Cruise's highest-grossing film of all-time, the fact it started streaming in time for the holidays certainly helped boost its performance.

As such, Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning debuting on Paramount+ on December 4 is already setting the movie up for similar success. Given the film, in particular, is serving as the end for the Cruise-fronted franchise, those who missed it in theaters can gather with friends and family to watch the send-off while spending time together for the holidays.
