Happy Wednesday night Husky fans. The Huskies got some more good news today when local 3 star defensive lineman David Schwerzel from O’Dea HS, WA committed to UW. The Huskies were able to reel in Schwerzel after he backed off commitments to UCLA, and Stanford. Rated by 247sports the 61st best defensive lineman in the 2026 class, Schwerzel projects as an interior defensive lineman in college. Listed at 6’4” and around 260 pounds, Schwerzel has played primarily edge in High school but he should be able to put on additional weight and get up to 290-300 pounds.

It’s no surprise that the Huskies have wanted to beef up their defensive line and with the addition of Schwerzel along with the other defensive line commits in the 2026 class they have built a formidable room for the next several years. Schwerzel is the 24th commit in the class, and as always Husky fans please welcome David to Montlake.
