Science fiction RPG Exodus will finally receive another trailer on the industry's biggest stage, The Game Awards. While Mass Effect has been on hiatus, a true successor hasn't stepped up, but with former BioWare developers behind it, Exodus is one of the more promising candidates to fill the void while waiting for Mass Effect 5. Exodus was revealed at The Game Awards 2023, and has received only a few sparse trailers in the interim.
The wait is almost over for new footage, though, as official Exodus social media accounts have promised a new trailer debuting at The Game Awards on December 11. Exodus' trailer announcement provides a short teaser clip, but it reveals virtually nothing. The Game Awards' broadcast is routinely packed with some of the biggest developers and publishers in the industry, so it would appear Archetype Entertainment and Wizards of the Coast are hoping to build excitement ahead of time.
This is your call to rise. A new EXODUS trailer premieres live at @thegameawards.com. December 11. Don’t miss it. Synchronize your timepiece: thegameawards.com — EXODUS (@exodusgameofficial.bsky.social) 2025-11-25T17:05:00.358Z
Exodus Will Release A New Trailer At The Game Awards 2025
The Game Awards have emerged as the preeminent event for video game reveals, becoming more or less a promotional show between the actual award announcements. Exodus had its world premiere at The Game Awards 2023, but its gameplay trailer opted to skip the occasion, releasing one week later in 2024.
Exodus immediately grabbed a lot of attention for its setting and obvious comparisons to Mass Effect, but piqued even more interest when Matthew McConaughey was revealed to be voicing a character named C.C. Orlev in a terrifying trailer detailing a disturbing species known as the Mara Yama.
Given the massive audience The Game Awards pulls annually, Exodus is likely to show off even more gameplay, and may reveal a release date. Exodus has been loosely slated for a release in 2026, and with the New Year coming up, the RPG may be beginning preparations for launch.
McConaughey-Led Sci-Fi RPG Is A Promising Mass Effect Successor
Relatively little has been seen of Exodus, but the odds are being stacked in its favor. It's the debut title of Archetype Entertainment, which was founded by ex-BioWare developers James Ohlen, Chad Robertson, and Drew Karpyshyn. The studio was created in 2019, so Exodus has had significant time in the oven, even if protracted development doesn't always lead to a quality release.
It's also notable that Exodus is leading the way for Wizards of the Coast's new sci-fi tabletop RPG of the same name. Exodus' wider setting is being used as the backdrop to a new franchise under WOTC parent company Hasbro. Immediately launching a franchise based on an untested game understandably won't assuage a lot of potential players, but it's at least indicative of a significant amount of resources being put into the property.
This upcoming trailer at The Game Awards 2025 will likely be the best barometer yet. If Exodus is intent on keeping its 2026 release date, it's time to start impressing viewers. Playing up McConaughey's involvement would likely be a strong course of action, but with The Game Awards' huge audience, the best bet is for Exodus to simply show up with some incredible gameplay footage.
