Oregon head coach Dan Lanning has quickly become one of the bigger names in college football coaching. The only reason he is not a candidate for any of the ten open head coaching positions around the country is that he’s made it very clear he has no intention of leaving Eugene Oregon.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe No. 5 Ducks are in an advantageous position and have been under Lanning for a little while now. Oregon can generate revenue on par with some of the blue blood programs that have dominated the landscape for the last two decades.
While the official numbers have not been confirmed, the 2024 Oregon roster was rumored to cost between $23 million and $40 million. The program that resides on the campus that Nike built has no problem bringing in money.
Last Saturday, the Oregon Ducks welcomed USC to Autzen stadium. The Ducks won that game 42-27, extending their record to 10-1 overall and 7-1 in the Big Ten conference. The Ducks winning a tenth game would otherwise not be noteworthy. According to Sports Illustrated, winning this tenth game initiated a contractual increase for Lanning.
Earning this tenth win elevates Lanning’s Oregon contract. After the win, Lanning’s contract adds a year to the term of his deal and increases his annual guaranteed amount to $10.6 million.

Oregon plays Washington on the road this week. That game is scheduled to kick off at 3:30pm ET and broadcast on CBS.
