Disney is expanding its Star Wars section, Galaxy’s Edge, at Disneyland.

Disney Parks Blog was the first to report on the expansion. The new elements will bring characters and storylines from multiple eras of the franchise to the immersive attraction. Beginning April 29, 2026, guests will encounter familiar faces from the original Star Wars trilogy, including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Han Solo, and Princess Leia, alongside characters from the newer installments.

The changes will highlight key moments from the Galactic Civil War, the rise of the New Republic, the Resistance, and the First Order. Disney added that visitors can still enjoy the older attractions as well, such as Batuu, the Millennium Falcon, and more.

One of the upcoming additions, the Black Spire Outpost, will transport visitors back several decades. The section will feature updated props, enhanced graphics, and music inspired by the films.

Iconic Star Wars characters will be visible throughout the outpost. Darth Vader, accompanied by Imperial Stormtroopers, will patrol the area in search of Luke Skywalker, while the latter explores Batuu. Princess Leia may appear near the Millennium Falcon, recruiting allies to help protect her brother, while Han Solo will be found around his ship and the Cantina.

Disneyland's move to integrate decades of Star Wars stories coincides with the theatrical release of The Mandalorian & Grogu set to premiere on May 22, 2026. The timing also collides with major shifts at Disney, as the company could potentially be announcing its new CEO as Bob Iger steps down.

Since it opened in 2019, Galaxy’s Edge has been a major attraction at Disneyland. These new developments will be the first time the area will feature an interconnected timeline spanning across the full Star Wars timeline.

Disney also made an announcement of their own on Instagram. The company's post included a dramatic video introducing Darth Vader as the Star Wars villain walks through some smoke. It also features two Stormtroopers, one standing on each side of Anakin Skywalker. Check out the post below:
