Oregon and Washington will renew a bitter rivalry on Saturday, with the Ducks hoping to make it two wins in a row against the Huskies.

In just their second year in the Big Ten, the Oregon Ducks haven't had many games in 2025 in which the words "hatred" or "bitter" could be used to describe the matchup. Sure, the in-state rival Oregon State Beavers came to Autzen Stadium in Week 4, but the state of their program (2-9 heading into their season-finale) is less than inspiring and the Ducks were heavy favorites anyways.

The Week 5 bout with the Penn State Nittany Lions was a renewal of the 2024 Big Ten title game that turned into a double overtime thriller, but it's hard for that to be seen as much more than — at the time — two of the top teams in the Big Ten squaring off.

All of that changes ahead of Oregon's season-finale matchup with the Washington Huskies.

Not only are the Huskies a more than solid team at 8-3 and a potential College Football Playoff spot is on the line for the Ducks, but the two programs do not like each other. So much so that in Washington head coach Jedd Fisch's office, he has "Beat Oregon Today" transcribed on his wall, as leaked in a social media post by his wife earlier this year.

The feeling is mutual for Oregon, as Dan Lanning noted that the rivalry is fun because the two fan bases don't like one another.

That rivalry will be played out on Saturday, with the Huskies looking to add to their all-time series lead — and the Ducks looking to make some headway and start a comeback.

Overall, Washington has a 63-49-5 record against Oregon, though 43 of the Huskies' victories came before 1980.

A number of memorable matchups have occurred in recent years, with current Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer leading the charge in Seattle. With quarterback Michael Penix Jr. (first-round pick in 2024) and wide receivers Rome Odunze (first round), Jalen McMillan (second round) and Ja'Lynn Polk (third round), Washington defeated Oregon twice in 2023, squashing all hope of the Ducks making the then four-team CFP.

The second loss was especially devastating, as it came in the PAC-12 championship with the Huskies running for an eventual game-sealing first down in the final minute.

But Oregon struck back in their first Big Ten matchup. Also played in the last game of the regular-season, the Ducks simply out-muscled the Huskies. By game's end, they'd rushed for 222 yards and allowed just 43 while sacking quarterback Demond Williams Jr. ten times. Yes, ten times.

That was just his first career start, and he's a much more refined player now as a true sophomore. Corralling him once again and playing physical football will go a long way towards the Ducks securing their 50th victory in the series and catapulting themselves into the postseason.
