Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart confirmed that offensive lineman Nyier Daniels has been dismissed from Georgia's team following his arrest on Sunday, Nov. 23. Daniels was arrested on 13 total charges with 10 of them being driving misdemeanors. Daniels' charges included three felony charges. The felonies Daniels is facing are two cruelty to children (second degree) charges and one charge for fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.

"I know you guys want to ask about Nyier (Daniels)," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said following Daniels' arrest. "I have not had a chance to talk to him or his family, but obviously he'll no longer be with us."

Daniels' dismissal should not come as a major surprise. Georgia indefinitely suspended receiver Nitro Tuggle and offensive lineman Marques Easley in the spring. Both players faced driving charges and left the UGA program via the transfer portal.

"No, I think those would be your words, not my words," Smart said when asked if Georgia is being tougher on driving offenses. "My words would be that each situation is a case-by-case basis, and we'll always evaluate things based on the total history of the student athlete, what the actions were and what they entailed."

Daniels is a former four-star recruit from New Jersey. The 6-foot-8, 345-pound offensive lineman has appeared in four games during his UGA career. He played in Georgia's win over Charlotte the day before his arrest in Jackson County, Georgia.
