His playing time with the Boston Celtics was sparse to start the 2025-26 NBA regular season, which did not bode well for the future of Baylor Scheierman in the league. But the Creighton alum has begun to pick up with some of the momentum he finished last season with in terms of showing he belongs on the court for Boston in recent games. And Sheierman was instrumental in helping the Celtics secure an improbable win vs. the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday (Nov. 26) night at TD Garden.
The Hastings, Nebraska native put up 13 points, 3 rebounds, and an assist in 30 minutes of floor time, shooting 5-of7 from the floor overall, and 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. "I mean, we can compete against anybody," said Scheierman after the win.

Perhaps more impressively, Mazzulla trusted Scheierman to guard early-season Most Valuable Player candidate Cade Cunningham for large stretches of the game. Asked about that trust, the Boston wing replied "I think that’s something you work for."
"Obviously, just like I've talked about all year, just take it one game at a time. That was my goal tonight, try to go out there and execute to the best of my abilities, and I'm ... excited we won the game and have got to move on for the next game."
