The final game of the 2025 regular season schedule is almost here, and as is the tradition, the Florida Gators will face off against the FSU Seminoles during college football's rivalry week.

This year, the game will be played in Gainesville to much less fanfare than in years past. The Orange and Blue are already locked into its fourth losing season in five years, while the Garnet and Gold have stumbled once again and need this final win just to reach the postseason.

It has been a rough season for the Gator Nation and the pain is nearly over on the collegiate gridiron. With one last matchup remaining, the Gators Wire crew offers their final expert predictions and picks of the fall.

'The oddsmakers give the Gators the edge, as do I'

"Well, Gator fans, this is it. It is the final game of the season, Florida is not playing in a bowl game, but has the opportunity to do two things:

  1. Avoid the worst season in Gainesville since the winless 1979 campaign;

  2. Keep its biggest in-state rivals out of the postseason

"At this point, the players are simply playing for pride — and maybe even tryouts for their future transfer portal destinations — so there are still plenty of reasons for the team to go out and give its all. And I fully expect them to.

"The Seminoles have been disappointing this season as well, and it would fit the narrative if they falter in the Swamp. The oddsmakers give the Gators the edge, as do I." — Adam Dubbin

PREDICTION: Florida 24, FSU 20

'Winning would be like being the fastest kid in the slow group'

"A tropical storm saves the day and cancels the game…

"I’m joking (kind of), but it really does feel like both fan bases have had enough at this point. Winning would be like being the fastest kid in the slow group in P.E. class.

"Because of all the injuries and the uninspired play we saw last week against Tennessee, I have to pick against Florida once again. I don’t think there will be a struggle to score this time around, at least.

"Let’s say the Gators go up two scores in the first half and slowly let FSU fight its way back. What a fitting end to a dumpster fire of a season, right?" — David Rosenberg

PREDICTION: FSU 24, Florida 20

'Give me a game-winning field goal by the Gators'

"Rivalry games are supposed to flip logic on its head, but even that didn’t save Florida last week against Tennessee. Florida State is different though. The noise hits harder. The nerves shake looser. Weird things happen in this rivalry, and they always seem to happen in Gainesville.

"FSU is playing for a bowl game, so this is Florida’s last shot to punch someone in the mouth before the season ends. It just depends on if they have the motivation at this point to do it. I hope so because when the players line up against the Seminoles, nothing else matters except making a statement against your in-state rival.

"It won’t be pretty, it won’t be clean and it absolutely won’t make sense to anyone outside the rivalry, but I think Florida drags FSU into a backyard brawl and steals it late. Give me a game-winning field goal by the Gators to conclude the 2025 season." — Aidan Gallardo

PREDICTION: Florida 24, FSU 21
