The Miami Marlins already added Tyler Zuber once during 2025. Why not again?

Zuber had elected free agency in early November, but this week, he re-signed with the Marlins, with the move reflected on the MLB transactions page.

A right-handed pitcher, Zuber was claimed off waivers by the Marlins from the New York Mets in July.

Zuber had pitched in two innings with the Mets before he was waived.

He made it up to MLB late in the season with the Marlins but had an 11.70 ERA in nine outings.

Zuber was originally a sixth-round pick by the Kansas City Royals in 2017 out of Arkansas State.

He's now 30 years old and has pitched in parts of four MLB seasons.

Zuber made his big league debut in 2020 with the Royals, who he then pitched for again in 2021.

Injury kept Zuber away from the bigs for a couple of years before he got back up for two outings with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2024.

That led to this past season, with two innings with the Mets and 10 innings with the Marlins representing Zuber's latest MLB work.

He has a career 6.26 ERA with 73 strikeouts in 64.2 innings in the major leagues.

At Triple-A in 2025, Zuber had a 5.45 ERA.

He's got the stuff to get strikeouts but is also erratic and allows too many home runs, so it's a tricky package.

But the Marlins liked Zuber enough to bring him back, which says something.
