On Thanksgiving weekend, the miserable Boston College football season is finally coming to an end when the Eagles travel to upstate New York to face off against the Syracuse Orange. Despite how poorly the team has played in 2025, BC has a real shot at actually winning this game and securing their only FBS win of the season.

What to Watch For
Eagles defense, this is your chance! BC’s defense has been swiss cheese all season for a variety of reasons. But now they are facing one of the worst offenses in the nation, one who threw two pick 6s against Notre Dame in the first quarter of last week’s game. Although the Eagles are still missing key players like Quintayvious Hutchins, Daveon Crouch, Jaylen Blackwell, Owen Stoudmire, Cam Martinez, and more, they won’t necessarily even be outmatched against Syracuse. I’d like to see them put up a performance similar to what we saw in the first half of the Notre Dame and Georgia Tech games. I don’t expect them to look amazing out there, but they have a chance to do enough to win.
The Dylan Lonergan redemption arc begins here. Cuse’s defense is not much better than their offense, giving up 36 points per game and over 400 yards. If Lonergan can at least be a game manager on Saturday, completing short passes and not turning the ball over, then the Eagles should have a great chance at winning. He proved against Georgia Tech that he still has some juice left.
Turbo Richard is fun to watch! Anyone who has been insane enough to watch every BC football game this season like me at least has gotten to see very fun performances from Turbo Richard throughout the year. And now that he’s facing a Syracuse run defense that gives up over 5 yards per carry, now is his chance to turn that production into a Boston College win.
Prediction: Boston College 27 Syracuse 21
That’s right folks, I’m going into the offseason predicting a Boston College victory! It’s been a long journey since we last saw them win a game in August. I’ve actually been very impressed by their effort level in the midst of this miserable season, though. Just a few years ago we often saw Jeff Hafley’s teams give up halfway through a game or deep into a 3-9 season, but Bill O’Brien at least has these guys fighting til the end. I’m hoping they can escape 2025 with one ACC win and a shred of dignity to carry them into the new year.
