The Detroit Lions' shot at a third straight NFC North title took a couple of blows on Thanksgiving.

One was losing to the Green Bay Packers, who moved ahead of Detroit into second place in the division. The other blow was losing wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown for an indeterminate period after he suffered an ankle injury.

St. Brown has been one of the NFL's most prolific receivers this season through 12 and a half weeks. He ranks in the top five in the league in receiving yards, top three in targets and his nine receiving touchdowns are the second-most by any player.

LIONS NEWS: Frank Ragnow coming out of retirement, will re-join Detroit in 2025

How long is Amon-Ra St. Brown out?

NFL Media's Tom Pelissero reported on Nov. 28 that St. Brown sustained a low ankle sprain in the Lions' Week 13 loss to the Packers on Thanksgiving. He is considered week-to-week and should avoid hitting injured reserve. As a result, there is a good chance the Lions' lead receiver misses only a minimal amount of time, if any.

Pelissero also pointed out that the Lions' schedule in the coming weeks includes another Thursday game – hosting the Dallas Cowboys in Week 14 – meaning Detroit only plays in one game over the next two calendar weeks. If St. Brown does not aggravate his ankle in practice, he may only end up missing one game.

There will be more clarity on St. Brown's status as the week continues and the Lions begin to release their practice injury reports. If the wideout is a participant in practice early in the week, there's a chance he does not miss any game time.

  • Targets: 108

  • Receptions: 75

  • Receiving yards: 884

  • Yards/reception: 11.8

St. Brown's nine receiving touchdowns are the second-most of any player in 2025. His 75 receptions rank sixth and his 884 yards rank fifth in the league.

Lions WR depth chart

  • Amon-Ra St. Brown

  • Jameson Williams

  • Isaac TeSlaa

  • Dominic Lovett

  • Tom Kennedy

Williams figures to be the main option in the passing attack if St. Brown is sidelined. The rookie TeSlaa should also assume a larger role. Detroit is also without Kalif Raymond, who suffered an ankle injury that kept him out of the Thanksgiving game, and star tight end San LaPorta, who underwent back surgery and isn't expected back any time soon.
