Despite the success of Wicked and Wicked: For Good at Universal, Jon M. Chu has signed a new deal with Paramount. Chu directed both parts of the Broadway musical adaptation, which have proven to be a massive box office success.

According to Matt Belloni, Paramount has now signed Chu to a significant movie and TV first-look deal. Universal was also interested but was unable to sign Chu. This new deal takes over the existing one that the filmmaker had with Warner Bros.
