Melania Trump has officially launched her own film production company. The First Lady has not been directly involved in media, but has been in the public spotlight for years since her marriage to Donald Trump in 2005. This has been even more prominent in the last near-decade since both Trump presidencies.

Melania Trump has also been portrayed in the media by multiple different people, prominently on Saturday Night Live. Cast member Cecily Strong has stepped in to lampoon Trump, for instance. This has given the First Lady relevance in the media, even absent direct involvement.

Suddenly, Trump has launched herself further into media prominence as she announces the laucnh of her own film company. Announcing the news on her personal X account, Trump has presented Muse Films. Trump did not provide other details about the company.

She did note, however, that Muse would be connected to her upcoming documentary Melania. The self-titled film comes out on January 30, 2026.

Melania has been in production for several months now, though specific details on what the documentary will cover remain unknown. Trump herself features in the film, which is directed by Brett Ratner. It is unclear the extent to which President Donald Trump will be involved in the movie.

While it looks like the newly formed Muse Films produced the project, distribution rights for the feature are owned by Amazon MGM Studio. The studio bought Melania for a reported sum of $40 million. The film will not go straight to streaming, but rather will debut in theaters for its end-of-January release date.

Trump's post about the documentary was fairly downplayed. Her presidential husband's announcements tend to be more fanfare-intensive. Instead, Melania Trump took a toned-down approach, offering a simple video reveal on social media.

This reveal was also light on the informational side of things. It is unclear what else Muse Films plans to produce as a company beyond Melania.

Another point of confusion is that the name Muse is already associated with existing production companies. A European-based Amazon subsidiary is named Muse Films, as is the American company behind The Virgin Suicides, American Psycho, and Spring Breakers.

There is no direct link yet between these companies and the newly-formed Muse Films from Melania Trump. The future of the company is likely partially dependent on the level of success of Melania upon its release in a couple of months. Documentaries are not typically huge blockbusters, but the public figure's White House tie might very well drive audiences to theaters and pave a path forward for Muse.
