This Week in Purple: Thankful

Colorado Rockies weekend discussion thread for November 29-30, 2025

This Week in Purple: ThankfulStory bySamantha BradfieldSat, November 29, 2025 at 1:00 PM UTC·1 min read

We’re in the thick of Thanksgiving, and there finally some things to be grateful for as a Rockies fan. The Rockies hired an external candidate — Paul DePodesta of “Moneyball” fame — as their president of baseball operations, and Warren Schaeffer is back from his interim managerial stint to lead the team full-time in 2026. They’ve made a handful of moves so far, and have tendered/non-tendered contracts to many of the players we all hoped would return or not.

Next up on the horizon, we have the Winter Meetings to look forward to from December 7-10 in Orlando. DePodesta is also looking to hire a general manager underneath him, and Schaeffer still has to fill out his coaching staff. There are a lot of moves to still be made, but things appear to be moving in the right direction!
