A first win against their rivals since 2021 would see Chelsea cut the gap to three points, and put them very much in the title conversation at this stage of proceedings.

Moises Caicedo on playing with pain

There are a number of interesting subplots to the game with Noni Madueke returning to Chelsea for the first time since leaving in the summer.

However, the big one is Caicedo and Declan Rice coming up against one another in midfield, which is going to be a key a battle in determining the outcome of the game.

Rice has praised Caicedo in the build-up and the pair are arguably the two best midfielders in the Premier League currently.

Caicedo revealed he nearly joined Arsenal, and he’ll be key for Chelsea’s chances on Sunday, but he did make a slightly worrying confession ahead of the game.

“I feel pain sometimes,” he told Mail Sport.

“I’ve been playing with pain but I’m not going to stop until I break.

“I never give up, I get used to playing like this.”

Cole Palmer ready to face Arsenal

With Caicedo ready to face Arsenal, Chelsea were handed a boost before the game with Cole Palmer declared fit and available.

Palmer last featured for Chelsea on 20th September, but has now shaken off the groin injury which has ruined his start to the season.

It’s unlikely Maresca will throw Palmer straight back into the team after more than two months out, but his return will give everyone a huge lift ahead of a crucial stage of the season.
