Well, no matter what happens the rest of the season, at least the Falcons won’t be getting swept by the Saints. In a season of catastrophe, that would have been the final stake into the proverbial heart of this franchise, in 2025.
Coming off of the rivalry win in New Orleans, the Falcons are still in a really bad spot as far as 2025 playoff contention goes, sitting at 4-7. They do have a chance to inch back ever closer to that .500 mark with a date against the 2-9 Jets, who are in the midst of their own even greater struggles at the moment.

If the Falcons win
They will come step closer toward undoing the just about fatal damage done during that five game losing streak which spanned from mid-October through mid-November. They are not mathematically eliminated from anything yet, and will stave off that scenario for at least another week.
The equation seems simple for Atlanta at this point, they sort of have no choice but to win out if they don’t want to extend this playoff drought to eight seasons. That is, of course, unless the Bucs and Panthers both absolutely collapse down the stretch.

The Falcons will continue to absolutely own the Jets in recent memory, as this would be their sixth win in seven meetings head to head since the turn of the millennia.
If the Falcons lose
They likely won’t really have much to play for the rest of the way, beyond just pride, as far as this season is concerned. Once again, this is barring a complete and utter collapse by the Bucs and Panthers which would open the division up to be won with nine wins, but that’s not really something to bank on.

New York is coming off of a trade deadline where they shipped out key defensive pieces, and they are currently among the worst teams in the league.
The Bucs could move to a full 3.0 games, also with the tiebreaker ahead of Atlanta in the NFC South, meaning that it would likely be elimination time for the Birds over the next two weeks. Their first round pick which is owed to the Rams this year would also jump back into the top 10 for the time being.
