It's not exactly clear what is happening.
The Panthers have used Dowdle some, too, including on a crucial fourth-down run. So there is no injury here.
The Panthers must be doing some kind of riding the hot hand here. Hubbard hasn't really been the hot hand all season.

But on this day, Hubbard looks great, and Carolina has stuck with him.
It's not clear whether that will carry over to future weeks. For now, though, Hubbard is having himself a Sunday.
