It has been nearly two years since the DCEU finished its decade-long run at Warner Bros. Zack Snyder began the first-ever big-screen Justice League universe with 2013's Man of Steel, and while the franchise is over, the filmmaker is taking several trips down memory lane through social media.
As Snyder has been sharing several behind-the-scenes images from his time working on his respective DCEU movies, the director recently shared a never-before-seen image of Henry Cavill and Amy Adams' Clark Kent and Lois Lane. Check it out below:
The last time Cavill reprised the role of his Superman was in 2022's Black Adam, where he showed up for a brief cameo in the post-credits scene, while sharing the screen with Dwayne Johnson's titular anti-hero. The plan was to have Cavill back again as Superman in additional installments of the DCEU movie timeline.
Since joining Instagram, Snyder has shared multiple BTS looks from Ben Affleck's Batman to Amber Heard's Mera and Jared Leto's Joker. Several of his posts from his DC era have sparked a lot of theories that he is hinting at the Snyderverse coming back, despite there not being any official plans to resume that universe.
The focus right now for DC Studios is the DC Universe's Chapter 1: "Gods and Monsters" slate from James Gunn, which has had a big year with the Superman movie, starring David Corenswet. However, some actors from Snyder's DC projects have been integrated into the DCU, with Jason Momoa now set to play Lobo after having portrayed Aquaman in the DCEU.
Snyder has previously revealed that if he could do another DC movie, he would want to do a full adaptation of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. When he appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast in 2023, he revealed how that is a dream project for him, as he shared the following:
No, I don’t think so [when asked if Ben Affleck would be his Batman.] I think it would just be its own thing. Yeah, I think it would be its own thing. I would just do it one hundred percent, Watchmen style, really frame-accurate. Really do it. I don’t think it would be that expensive, to be honest. I don’t think so. It’s pretty gritty.
