Give me a lighthearted recap
Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are eager to check out any and every leak that trickles through the cracks on the most anticipated game of the decade, and in a recent discovery that surfaced online over the weekend, they finally got their first legitimate leak in a long time.
As you might expect, GTA 6 fans (via Reddit) are losing their minds over the possibility that this leak might have bigger implications for the game, such as a possible third delay announcement. As Ok-Instruction830 jests, "Rockstar is going to delay the game 1 month for every leak that’s released."
Fans might be overreacting a bit, as the leak in question is quite dated and Rockstar isn't likely to delay the entire game over years-old motion-capture animation footage from a former dev.
GTA 6 Gameplay Has Leaked... Again
The most recent GTA 6 leak was quickly removed, though the cat is out of the bag at this point, with the footage spreading across the internet in a matter of hours. The gameplay footage in the leak is a bit of a nothing-burger, showcasing early mo-cap animation editing from a former Rockstar animator who worked on various projects.
The leak shows about 5–10 seconds of three different GTA 6 scenes, including a character using a bicycle and Lucia getting out of the back of a pickup truck, as well a brief clip of some scenery. While the original video has been removed from Vimeo, it's still quite easy to find after spreading over social media in the past day.
The First Real GTA 6 Leak After Months Of AI Fakes
Despite not being a very exciting leak, it is the first legitimate leak that has surfaced in a long time. Fake, AI-generated "gameplay leaks" have been proliferating online in recent weeks, frustrating and angering fans after an already tumultuous year of multiple delays and Rockstar controversies.
Fans had mixed reactions to the leak, voicing concerns that it could cause yet another delay or "retaliation" of sorts from Rockstar. Players are also a bit disappointed with the leak, with AceChipEater pointing out that "it’s not particularly impressive and it’s within the design engine."
While it's not a huge, game-changing discovery, the leak is still the most recent legitimate GTA 6 footage anyone has seen, despite being quite old and underwhelming. Legitimate leaks are pretty rare when it comes to Grand Theft Auto 6, though, so it will be interesting to see if and how Rockstar responds.
