Are the New Orleans Saints the worst team in the NFL? You could make an argument that they have the league's worst offense. Their 2-10 record says that if they aren't at the bottom, they're awful close. And with just five games left in the regular season with no hope of a playoff berth on the horizon, they're running out of time to improve that standing.
So it's understandable to see the Saints ranked very, very low on the weekly NFL power rankings. That doesn't mean it's something anyone is happy about. As we move towards Week 14, here's a look at where the Saints fell in the latest round of power rankings.

Cam Jordan and Terrell Suggs are now the only players this century with at least 125 sacks and 745 tackles in their career. Shame Jordan hasn't gotten the on-field recognition he's earned.

The Saints have reached 20 points in a game just twice, the last time coming in Week 5. But it is a good sign that despite a 2-10 record, the Saints have been competitive most weeks in head coach Kellen Moore’s first season. That hasn’t led to many wins but it’s a good sign in the Moore era. “The fact that I’ve come up and say we’re a tenacious team, we’re a team that keeps fighting,” defensive end Cam Jordan said, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

New Orleans made a switch at quarterback midway through its Week 8 game against the Bucs—going from Spencer Rattler to Tyler Shough—and Minnesota might be the only team that’s been worse off at the position since. Shough has been almost irredeemably bad, taking hits in the pocket and turning the ball over but without creating any of the explosive offense that could make his recklessness worth it. New Orleans can’t possibly go into next season without a new option at quarterback—unless there’s a clear directive that the Saints are going to tank in order to pick atop the 2027 NFL draft.

The Saints had another rough game with Tyler Shough's growing pains in Miami. They are at least showing some real fight to prove Kellen Moore deserves a second season.
Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: 31 (30)
They competed against Miami, which is a good sign. Tyler Shough flashes at times, which is encouraging.

The Saints lost, but this was incredibly cool…Pilgramage to this bar, anyone?

Best-case scenario: A Week 17 loss
That’s when the Saints play the Titans in what’s going to be a matchup no one should have to watch. That said, it will be important in deciding draft positioning at the top of Round 1. If New Orleans loses that, it will have a 28 percent chance of landing the No. 1 overall pick.

The Saints have been eliminated from playoff possibilities. This is just official. They actually were out of the running once the season started.

Tyler Shough was dreadful in the first half against Miami’s awful defense. He put together some late touchdown drives, but it’s hard to take that seriously. I have the Saints replacing Shough in my 2026 NFL Mock Draft .

X factor for final stretch: Wide receiver Chris Olave
The Saints' last win came when Olave had his only 100-yard game of the season in Week 10 against the Panthers. The Saints are down two receivers now that Brandin Cooks and Rashid Shaheed are gone and running back Alvin Kamara is hurt. That means there aren't a lot of pass-catching options for rookie quarterback Tyler Shough. Devaughn Vele had his best game as a Saint against the Dolphins, but the Saints need Olave to get their offense going. -- Katherine Terrell
