L.A. Rams News: Do they still deserve the top spot?Story byDanny StoneWed, December 3, 2025 at 1:01 PM UTC·5 min read

The Los Angeles Rams were looked at as perhaps the best team in the NFL while they were on their six-game win streak, but after losing to the Carolina Panthers this past Sunday, that’s not likely to the be case as L.A. should fall in many power rankings, and in the mind’s eye of those who follow football. Do you think the Rams are still the best team in the NFC and or NFL even after Sunday’s defeat?

Of course, it’s subjective, so some/many could still believe this team is the best in the NFL.

For specific fans, and those who hate the Rams, they wanted L.A. out of that number one spot.

For certain fans, they thought the hype was too much and they’d rather see their team go under the radar. For those who don’t like the Rams, then it’s pretty clear they just want the Rams to lose. No real insight needed there.

Food for thought, but it’s really hard for a NFL team to “fly under the radar” when they are playing good ball, so whereas I get the idea of, Let the Rams cook in silence; when you are playing good ball, people are going to notice. So maybe the next time you say you don’t want to see the Rams first in power rankings, consider the alternative.

For the fans who enjoyed L.A.’s time on top, wasn’t it nice while it lasted? Now, the Rams have a chance to get back to the top spot (maybe you think they still are), but it won’t happen overnight. In fact, it could take weeks, maybe months. Maybe the Rams best parts of the season are behind them. We don’t know.

For me, I have to at least put New England and the Chicago Bears above the Rams for now, but that’s me, and that can change.

I’ll say, enjoy the ride as much as one can because before we know it, this ride will be over, and for most fans this ride only ends one of two ways. With a Super Bowl win, or a horrible loss.

NFL power rankings Week 14: Do red-hot Patriots take top spot after Rams loss? (usatoday)

“1. Los Angeles Rams (1): Yeah, they lost … on the East Coast … in a rain storm … QB Matthew Stafford uncharacteristically throwing as many interceptions (2) in the first quarter as he had all season entering Sunday. Maybe the only concerning red flag here was how the defense was gashed on the ground by Carolina. Otherwise? We’re giving LA a mulligan on this one.“

How Rams Recent Loss Could Come Back to Hurt Them (si.com)

“The Los Angeles Rams lost a brutal game in Week 13. It was one that they did not have their best stuff in and at the end, it was just too much to overcome, and they could not keep their winning streak going.

The Rams went into that game looking to improve the things they wanted to do better, but they took a step back. That is not all bad, but they know that could not happen, and it is something they want to make sure does not happen again this season.“

Once-promising Rams draft pick may have one foot out the door in Los Angeles (ramblinfan)

“He was to succeed veteran tight end Tyler Higbee. He was to give the offense enough firepower to deploy 12- and 13-personnel at will. And he was a formidable offensive weapon who would block and catch well enough to transform the offense in 2025. And Week 13 was the perfect setup to flourish or fail in this offense.

Only, he failed to catch two passes thrown his way.

For a team that has already played five tight ends in 12 games, one thing has become dramatically obvious. Rookie tight end Terrance Ferguson is the runt of the litter. Even freshly signed free agent Nick Vannett, also known as Baby Gronk, got more work in Week 13 than Ferguson. If that doesn’t concern you, it should.“

Random Ramsdom Fandom:

“Hmmm… we’re tied with Seattle and in first place by virtue of our 21-19 win in the first game. What if they defeat us in Seattle? Both the Hawks and 49ers have better conference records than us. And, SF is playing the 4th place schedule. I think we blew our chance at the bye and maybe the NFC West title at Carolina. We’re 9-3. No one has beaten us. We beat ourselves in all three losses. The Cards and Atlanta will be playing us as spoilers. Detroit is fighting for their playoff lives. Seattle is deemed by some as the best NFC team. We basically play them for the NFC West title unless SF and their easy schedule bites us both.” -SlowTightEnd

I think the Rams are in a good spot as well. Look at the comments from some players and HC. They all said the right things. Great, now go out and get the job done. I remember one of my dad’s best lines 60 + years ago, “don’t just talk about it, do it”. -oldfartramfan
