Texas Longhorns special teams coordinator has his replacement for senior long snapper Lance St. Louis with the signing of Plano Prestonwood Christian product Trott O’Neal on Wednesday.
The 6’2, 235-pounder committed to the Horns in early May after a whirlwind recruitment.

The Plano product wasted little time committing as the Longhorns had already built a relationship after Banks inviting O’Neal to a spring practice and hosted the Kohl’s five-star prospect at the end of March.
Kohl’s reports an Air Force offer for O’Neal, who also visited Arkansas during spring practice and received invitations to camp at Alabama, Boise State, and Florida State. During the fall, he took unofficial visits to Georgia, NC State, Oklahoma State, and Ole Miss with a return trip to Oxford during the spring.
Here’s the evaluation of O’Neal by Kohl’s, which ranks him as the No. 5 deep snapper in the 2026 class:
O’Neal is easily one of the most exciting prospects in the 2026 class. He has impressive size and uses it extremely well in his snapping motion. O’Neal attended the 2024 Kohl’s Spring Texas Showcase and finished with the 3rd highest overall charting score in the country. At the 2025 Kohl’s Underclassman Challenge, he showed the same great consistency with his accuracy and ball rotation and we have grown accustomed to. O’Neal has the snapping talent and physical attributes every coach is looking for in their starting snapper.
In the 247Sports Composite rankings, O’Neal is ranked as the No. 3 long snapper, so the expectation is that O’Neal will step in seamlessly for St. Louis, who stepped into the starting lineup early in his freshman season and has been rock solid since. The positive is that O’Neal is listed as two inches taller and about 10 pounds heavier than St. Louis, who is only a little bit bigger than the only other rostered long snapper for the Horns this season, junior Tate Haver.
