Should the Seahawks reunite with veteran IOL Laken Tomlinson?

The Seattle Seahawks have dealt with multiple injuries across the interior of their offensive line in recent weeks. Starting center Jalen Sundell has been sidelined for multiple weeks with Olu Oluwatimi starting in his place. Rookie left guard Grey Zabel has missed snaps and gone into games questionable, leading to the occasional snap for sophomore guard Christian Haynes.

If Seahawks general manager John Schneider is interested in adding some familiar in-season depth, an opportunity just became available. The Houston Texans waived veteran guard Laken Tomlinson on Tuesday. Should the Seahawks consider signing Tomlinson, who was a starter for them in 2024?

Tomlinson played a team-high 1,097 snaps for the Seahawks last season. He was on an expiring contract, and the Seahawks decided to reconfigure their offensive line by drafting Zabel and promoting Sundell to the starting lineup. No, Schneider shouldn't have any interest in bringing Tomlinson back despite the current injuries up front.

Tomlinson struggled mightily for the Seahawks in 2024. Klint Kubiak came in as offensive coordinator and he brought John Benton with him as the new offensive line position coach. They both came to the conclusion that Tomlinson was a poor fit for their offense.

Tomlinson signed with the Texans in free agency. Predictably, he struggled again. The Texans recently reconfigured their starting five and Tomlinson had been a healthy scratch. He'll probably sign somewhere soon, but it shouldn't be in Seattle.
