Quickly becoming one of the streamer's biggest hits after its release in June 2025 release, KPop Demon Hunters was able to blend the catchy world of K-pop music with a vibrant demon-slaying fantasy tale.
Introducing audiences to HUNTR/X, a girl group composed of Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo) who are also demon hunters. Mentored by former K-pop idol and demon hunter Celine (Yunjin Kim), the film follows along as the group takes down the Saja Boys and learn a major lesson about radical self-acceptance along the way.
KPop Demon Hunters has been breaking Netflix records since its release, and while there has been buzz surrounding more to come from the team behind the film, it wasn't expected that viewers would see more content any time soon. KPop Demon Hunters' eventual sequel is set for 2029, but fans of the newfound franchise were treated with some surprise sequel content for the holidays.
HUNTR/X's Spotify Wrapped Message Is Set After The Events KPop Demon Hunters
Rumi's Patterns Indicate The Timing Of The Message
Although KPop Demon Hunters' official sequel isn't going to hit Netflix for quite some time, the film's fans got the chance to see some new content from HUNTR/X if they were big listeners on Spotify this year. With the release of 2025's Spotify Wrapped, those who were in the top percentage of listeners got a special message from HUNTR/X thanking them for listening.
Sharing the message together, Rumi is shown thanking fans for "loving our music as much as we love you," with a hint that the message was meant to be in the timeline of the universe after the events of the film. Rumi's patterns, though not abundantly apparent, are predominantly visible, proving that HUNTR/X's message was a recent one. Thankfully, there are other signs HUNTR/X is returning.
HUNTR/X's Comeback Teases A KPop Demon Hunters Sequel
Their Message Makes It Clear HUNTR/X Is Coming Back
While KPop Demon Hunters' return to Netflix is a ways away, the message from Spotify Wrapped also makes it clear that their return is imminent. With the group thanking listeners for enjoying and sharing their music on the platform, HUNTR/X's Spotify end of year message also hints at the idea that they'll be back, possibly sooner than viewers may anticipate.
HUNTR/X's trio each delivered a message of their own during the video, but went on to exclaim that they'll see fans "at the next show" to close things out. The next show, while it may be some time away, has to be KPop Demon Hunters' sequel. With more coming from HUNTR/X in the future, KPop Demon Hunters fans have reason to celebrate this holiday season.
