The fate of Sheriff Country has been decided. CBS has announced that the Fire Country spin-off led by Morena Baccarin has been renewed and will return with Season 2. This comes after the show had been on the air for just over a month — only six episodes have been released in the first season thus far. Following the ninth episode, which will air on December 10, Sheriff Country will take a two-month break and return to air on February 27. The second season of the Fire Country offshoot is expected to begin production early next year and be released late in 2026.

In addition to Morena Baccarin as Mickey Fox, Sheriff Country also stars Matt Lauria as Nathan Boone, W. Earl Brown as Wes Fox, Michele Weaver as Cassidy Campbell, Christopher Gorham as Travis Fraley, Amanda Acruri as Sky Fraley, and Caroline Rhea as Gina. More newcomers are expected to join the cast of Season 2, but they likely won’t be announced until the cameras roll. The show was written and created for television by Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, with Fire Country star and scribe Max Thieriot also working on the story for the offshoot. He also executive produces.

Sheriff Country star Morena Baccarin is best known for playing Vanessa in all three Deadpool movies. She featured prominently in the first film alongside Ryan Reynolds, but it wasn’t until the sequel that Vanessa was killed in a decision many still push back against to this day. She returned briefly in Deadpool & Wolverine last year, and has expressed interest in returning to a larger role in the future. She’ll also be seen alongside Gerard Butler in a new action sequel coming to theaters soon.

When Does The New Greenland Movie Come Out?

Baccarin will reprise her role as Allison Garrity alongside Gerard Butler in Greenland: Migration, the sequel to Greenland that’s coming to theaters on January 9, 2026. After Butler and Baccarin escaped a world-ending disaster in the first film, the sequel will see them venture back out into the wasteland in search of a better life. Ric Roman Waugh is once again directing the new Greenland movie. Baccarin also has a role in the new Masters of the Universe movie coming to theaters on June 5, 2026.

Stay tuned to Collider for more updates and coverage on the second season of Sheriff Country and watch the first six episodes of Season 1 on Paramount+.
