A trip to the college football playoff looks increasingly unlikely for Texas Football. UT only moved up one spot in the latest CFP Rankings.

The Texas Longhorns moved up from No. 17 to No. 16 in the latest college football playoff rankings. Texas will need a lot of help during rivalry week if they want to go to the CFP for a third straight year.

Miami ranked at No. 12 is the last at large team into the tournament. Meaning Texas will have to jump four spots in the final week of the season. Michigan, Vanderbilt and Utah all sit in front of the Longhorns.

Texas will have to beat rival Texas A&M on Friday (maybe convincingly) to have any shot at all.

Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M and Georgia continue to hold onto the top four seeds and a bye in the first round. The SEC has five teams in the current version of the bracket. The Big Ten fields three teams. The Big 12, ACC and Group of Five each have one team included. Notre Dame rounds out the dozen.
