LSU baseball faced Dartmouth for the second time this weekend on Sunday. The Tigers leaned on a strong pitching performance for a 3-0 victory. William Schmidt got the Sunday start, and he had a phenomenal day. He was pulled from the game after 7.1 innings of work, allowing zero runs on four hits, nine strikeouts, and one hit by pitch.
The LSU lineup continued to struggle. Jake Brown, Steven Milam, and Seth Darden were the only three Tigers to record a hit. Brown’s solo home run was enough for the LSU pitching staff. Schmidt and Mavrick Rizy were able to get the job done. With the win, LSU improves to 11-1 this season. The Tigers will play Northeastern tomorrow night at 6:30. Here are three takeaways from today's win.

That makes two solid starts in a row for Schmidt. He seems to keep getting better as his confidence continues to grow. He is going to be one of the best Sunday starters in the NCAA.
Rizy is a nice piece out of the bullpen
Mavrick Rizy has not been perfect out of the bullpen this season, but for the most part, he has been good. When Jay Johnson and his staff think about who they see as premium bullpen arms deeper into the season, I think Rizy makes the list.
Jake Brown saves the day
On another day where the Tigers could not seem to buy a hit, Jake Brown came through and outscored Dartmouth by himself. His homer in the bottom of the first was all LSU needed to win this one.
