The second recap special summarizes the entirety of season one. Since the first season originally aired years before season two, this refresher helped returning viewers. However, new fans watching straight through can skip it without losing any context.
Compilation films also fall into the skippable category. The Hidden Inventory compilation movie condenses episodes you’ve already seen. Similarly, the theatrical recap tied to Season 3, titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution, packages a recap of the Shibuya arc and the first two episodes of Season 3. If you’ve watched the episodes themselves, these offer no new scenes.

Likewise, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is canon and critical. The film adapts the prequel manga and introduces Yuta Okkotsu, whose role becomes increasingly important in later seasons. Events in season two directly reference the movie’s outcome.
Even episodes that seem slower often introduce rules about cursed techniques, domain expansions, or the political structure of Jujutsu society. These details matter in the Culling Game arc and beyond. In Jujutsu Kaisen, setup always leads somewhere meaningful.

It begins with season two’s first five episodes (Hidden Inventory), then the JJK 0 movie, then Season 1, and finally the rest of Season 2 and Season 3.
