Michigan State will play a trio of its former quarterbacks this upcoming season, and one of those signal callers talked about that upcoming matchup this fall.

During recent media availability, new expected Illinois starting quarterback Katin Houser spoke about his return to East Lansing, Mich. this fall, which essentially will seem like any other game for him based on his response. Houser noted that there's only "four to five" players left on the Spartans' roster from when he played at Michigan State -- which takes away some of the luster from the story of his return.

"It's crazy because I may only know four or five guys on the team that I been there with," Houser said. "(There's been) a lot of turnover, a lot of different guys, and a whole new staff. There are some administration people I still know so that will be cool if I see them but there's been a ton of turnover. I don't many people there anymore."

That quote from Houser was courtesy of Carson Gourdie of Fox Illinois.

Houser played for Michigan State for two seasons from 2022 to 2023. He appeared in 13 games, throwing for 1,132 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions. He transferred to East Carolina after the 2023 season where he was able to star for the Pirates at the group of five level, and now he's back in the Big Ten with the Fighting Illini.

Michigan State will host Illinois on October 10, which will be a critical midseason matchup for the Spartans. There certainly appears to be no revenge factor in play for Houser, but it'll still be a very difficult matchup with him under center leading the Fighting Illini.
