Another defensive line pass rusher is saying goodbye to the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason in free agency.

According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the Washington Commanders are signing former Chiefs defensive lineman Charles Omenihu to a one-year, $4 million deal, with the potential to increase to $7 million.

Omenihu was a streaky pass rusher who could take over a game in big moments, as he did in Week 6 last season against the Detroit Lions, finishing with a sack in a prime-time victory.

“He (Charles Omenihu) has 2.0 sacks in back-to-back weeks. Keep him on that trend. Keep his spirits high and a positive mind frame,” said Jones during his press conference after Week 6, Charles, we can utilize Charles in multiple sets for us. He can be a great asset for us, especially in the long run and the playoffs. He can play defensive end and defensive tackle when he puts his mind to it. We have to keep Charles in good spirits and keep him going.”

Omenihu finished the 2025 season with 28 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 17 games played. He spent three seasons in Kansas City, including a Super Bowl victory in 2023.
