The Baltimore Ravens have gone back on their trade of Maxx Crosby after the Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher reportedly failed his physical.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIt now sets in motion a headache of scenarios for both teams, but especially the Raiders, who have already signed a host of players with the cap space they were getting with Crosby moving on.
We know that Crosby had surgery at the end of the 2025 season, and according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and his piece ahead of the Super Bowl, it was for a meniscus repair, not a trim as some had reported.
"Sources clarified that Crosby actually underwent a minor meniscus repair -- not a trim -- on Jan. 7, meaning his recovery will be measured in months, not weeks," Rapoport wrote. "A meniscus trim is often 4-6 weeks of recovery while a repair can be 3-4 months. Crosby's should be shorter."

Based on Rapoport's report, Crosby likely wasn't fully healed from his surgery, and that could have played a big role in his failing his physical.
If his recovery could be three to four months, he is nowhere near healthy enough at the time of writing to pass a physical, but surely the Ravens knew that, right?
It is an odd situation that has huge knock-on effects for the Raiders, Ravens, and the rest of the NFL.
We thought the Ravens had Maxx locked into a deal, but it appears the failed physical was reason enough for the franchise to walk back on that deal.
