With a many questions surrounding the Philadelphia Phillies heading into the 2025-26 offseason, there will be a few different directions that Dave Dombrowski could consider.
AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAmong those is signing Adolis Garcia, who was recently non-tendered by the Texas Rangers.
Garcia hasn't been the same player over the past few years, as he was once one of the better playoff performers in the sport, hitting eight home runs and posting a 1.108 OPS in the 2023 postseason.
The Rangers won the World Series that year, and he looked to be one of the better players in baseball at the time.
A two-time All-Star, ALCS MVP, and a Gold Glove winner, Garcia could be valuable to Philadelphia.
However, it's also fair to note that he posted just a 93 OPS+ in 2025 and a 98 OPS+ in 2024.
He seems far removed from his 2023 showings at this point, but Destiny Lugardo of Phillies Nation still believes he can be a decent buy-low option for the Phillies.

“García has not been productive since 2023, and that’s why the Texas Rangers non-tendered their World Series hero. The outfielder has a .675 OPS over his last two seasons. His power numbers have declined. But he’s a right-handed-hitting former All-Star, and he could help the Phillies as a buy-low acquisition.
“That 2023 season, which now seems like forever ago, was incredible for García. He hit 39 home runs with an .836 OPS. He went on a postseason tear, winning ALCS MVP and hitting a walk-off homer in the World Series. And that level of success is probably behind him for good. However, García still hits the ball hard. He has a strong arm. If the Phillies could get him on a one-year deal, it would make sense to see if he can regain his form to some extent as the starting right fielder,” he wrote.
It doesn't seem likely that Garcia will get a big deal on the open market.

However, if the Phillies believe he still has something left in the tank, there are far worse options out there.
