This week, the USC men’s basketball team headed to Hawaii to play in the 2025 Maui Invitational. The Trojans looked highly impressive in Maui, defeating Boise State, Seton Hall, and Arizona State to win their first ever Maui Invitational championship.

Different players contributed

In the three Maui Invitational games, USC had three different leading scorers, and five different players record at least one game with double-digit points. That is a great sign, as it shows that the team has numerous different players who can lead them to a victory.

Controlling the boards

In each of their final two games in Maui, the Trojans out rebounded their opponent by double digits. That is another very good sign, as USC will need to rebound the ball well in order to be successful in Big Ten play.

Taking the show on the road

USC got on a plane and traveled five hours and two time zones to play three games in three days, and won all three. That should be great preparation for the Trojans ahead of Big Ten play, where they will have to make numerous road trips across the country.

This team is worth investing in

Last year, it felt like the USC men’s basketball season was over before it even began, as the Trojans never really got their feet off of the ground. It is still very early in the new season, but it appears as though USC fans may have a men’s basketball team worth investing in. Get to Galen Center and check them out in-person!

Up next

The Trojans will now have a full week off, before opening up Big Ten play at Oregon next Thursday night. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. Pacific time on FS1.
