The February 2026 Steam Next Fest is live now, bringing us a glimpse of what's coming to the world of PC gaming. The week-long event is like a festival, celebrating games yet to come from developers large and small. Alongside free playable demos, the event highlights exciting games to come with developer livestreams and chats, content creator Twitch streams, and so much more.

This time around, Steam Next Fest will run through March 2. That means you only have a few more days to dip into a massive collection of free game demos for hundreds of upcoming games.

There's something for everything, including new releases from beloved developers, exciting debuts, and every genre imaginable. If you're overwhelmed by all the options vying for your attention, there are a handful of demos that are an absolute must-try.

Replaced

Cyberpunk Platforming In Post-Apocalyptic America

Replaced character standing agains the backdrop of a city

Replaced is a debut title from Sad Cat Studios that's emerging as a Steam Next Fest fan-favorite. The game is a side-scrolling 2D platformer that features stunningly beautiful, hand-crafted pixel art and backgrounds.

In Replaced, you play as an AI trapped in a human body, in alternate 1980s America. Your character must navigate the sinister streets of Phoenix-City against the backdrop of a post-nuclear-catastrophe America.

Uncover the secrets of the nefarious corporation that created you, and discover what it means to be human along the way. Replaced has intense exploration, platforming, and combat, and a moody cyberpunk atmosphere and story that hits a little too close to home.

Denshattack

If Jet Set Radio Was About Trains

First, we had skateboarding and snowboarding games. Then, we had sword-skating and glass skating. Just when you thought it couldn't get more ridiculuos, Undercoders' Denshattack kick-flips onto the scene.

In this outlandish train-skating game, you board your customized train and ride, grind, and flip through a vibrant, voxel-art version of Japan. Do gravity-defying tricks, battle bosses, and explore Japanese cities transformed by malicious corporations in this delightfully ridiculous skating game.

Bobo Bay

Strong Chao Garden Vibes

Bobo Bay different bobos standing around near a beach

Was your favorite part of the Sonic Adventure games the Chao Garden? (Just admit it!) Bobo Bay by NewFutureKids brings the charm of the Chaos to an adorable monster simulator.

The cute and colorful title lets players collect, feed, breed, decorate, and train creatures called Bobos. Each Bobo has their own traits, moods, and thousands of combinations of physical traits, making every interaction with every one of the little critters a unique experience.

Train your Bobos to compete in challenges and minigames, and explore the town to collect cute new accessories for your companions. Bobo Bay will release on April 29, and you can try the demo through March 2 as part of Steam Next Fest.

The Eternal Life of Goldman

A Bit Of Silliness And A Lot of Heart

The Eternal Life of Goldman three headded boss facing off against old man with a cane

If you've ever wanted to play through a classic animated movie, The Eternal Life of Goldman can make that dream come true. Developed by Weappy Studio and published by THQ Nordic, this gorgeous platformer is clearly a labor of love.

Every breathtaking frame was hand-drawn and brought alive through frame-by-frame animation. This lush and detailed world contains a story that weaves together mythology, fairy tales, and legends—all at the hands of an old man armed with nothing but his cane. A sweeping, exceptional soundtrack adds the final touch.

The Eternal Life of Goldman has no release date yet, and is a must-try during Steam Next Fest.

Voodoo Fishin'

My Friendly Neighbor Goes Fishing

Voodoo Fishin shadow man holding up a fish by the water

Voodoo Fishin' is an upcoming game from Lost Arcade that takes the Muppets-like style of My Friendly Neighbor and combines it with elements of Peak.

Voodoo Fishin' unleashes you and a group of friends against the strange creatures that lurk in the depths of a fog-shrouded pond. There's just something about the isolation and meditative nature of fishing that makes it a prime target for horror games.

Proximity chat, crafting, and exploration make a nice day for fishing into a fight for your life against Eldritch horrors. The Steam Next Fest demo gives access to the full game system and mechanics, but limits exploration.

The Last Gas Station

A Blend Of Management And Mystery

The Last Gas Station red panda character walking through pixel landscape with mountain

The Last Gas Station, developed by Alawar, takes place in a world where electric cars have become the norm. In a spot out in the middle of the wilderness stands a lone gas station.

You play as the red panda in charge of caring for this lonely station. Grow your business, design and maintain the space, and explore the area around the station. As you progress, you'll uncover more about what happened to the previous station's manager, who disappeared under mysterious circumstances. And whatever you do, don't go out at night...

Esoteric Ebb

The Spirit Of A TTRPG In A Video Game

Esoteric Ebb crocodile character roasting a kebab

Esoteric Ebb wears its influences out in the open, and that's a good thing. The upcoming game was created by solo developer Christoffer Bodegård and is heavily inspired by Planescape: Torment and Disco Elysium, by the developer's own admission.

The result is a game that plays out like a TTRPG, with all the storytelling freedom that implies. Play as a Cleric and their goblin sidekick in a "post-Arcanepunk" world ruled by magic and mayhem. Decisions and dice-rolls influence the fate of the world and whether your character becomes a legend, or completely destoy everything.

If you like the demo, you won't have to wait long to experience the full game: Esoteric Ebb will release one day after the end of Steam Next Fest, on March 3.

Far Far West

Co-Op Cowboy Shenanigans

Far Far West robot cowboys running through an old timey town

Round up a crew of 1-4 players and take on the wild West in Far Far West by Evil Raptor. At a time when the game industry is experiencing co-op extraction shooter fatigue, Far Far West is a breath of fresh air with a winning demo.

But don't get caught by the monsters, enemies, or the mysterious and dangerous ghost train that sweep through 'round these here parts.

Zero Parades: For Dead Spies

Spiritual Successor To Disco Elysium

Zero Parades character walking through decrepit city

From the creators of cult classic Disco Elysium comes Zero Parades: For Dead Spies. Developer ZA/UM's gritty, grungy style is instantly recognizable in this upcoming title, scheduled for release sometime this year.

The game follows a legendary spy haunted by a failed mission that led to devastating consequences for his team. Burnt out and suffering from the psychological effects of his failure, operative Hershel Wilk is sent on one last mission. This redemption quest will take Wilk through a city that's alive with people, stories, and secrets—while simultaneously having to deal with his own inner struggles.

Zero Parades: For Dead Spies will feature the same depth of gameplay and lore that catapulted Disco Elysium to its legendary, beloved status among fans.

Windrose

Survival In An Age Of Piracy

Windrose pirate standing in front of ship in the dark

Windrose, developed by Windrose Crew, lets players explore, build, craft, and survive in an alternate Age of Piracy. Work together with other pirates in this swashbuckling adventure sandbox.

You play as a pirate going up against the legendary Blackbeard. But before you can do that, you'll have to craft a home base, take down smaller but no less dangerous foes, and steer your ship through battles atop the high seas. Can you survive in its perilous procedurally generated world?

Windrose feels like a blend of Ark-style exploration and Soulslike world-building and combat. After going hands-on with the game's demo during Steam Next Fest, many fans tout Windrose as a day-one purchase.
